How To Display Your Baked Goods For Sale

Posted on: 12 May 2016

There aren't too many people that aren't inherently drawn to doughnut shops, cake shops or any other form of bakery. However, the right display can help you turn someone passing by into a paying customer. More importantly, a return customer. If you own a small bakery and you are looking for a way to help your business compete with larger, more established businesses, you can start with the right type of display. Here are some tips to get you started.

Bring Out The Ingredients

It's fine to have the finished product on display, such as a muffin or a slice of cake. However, you can take it a step further by putting on display the ingredients that you used to prepare the baked good. Take a berry tarte, for example. A fresh, rich looking bowl of berries next to the tartes can speak to the taste buds of a customer who is fond of berries.

If you prepare baked breads, fresh garlic and oregano displayed next to your garlic rolls can also look appetizing. Displaying select ingredients will only help highlight the delicious flavors in your products.

Choose The Right Type Of Display

Make certain you're displaying your baked goods in the right type of display box as there is no one-size-fits-all solution. There are a number of factors to consider. For instance, how detailed is the baked item? Take sphere cakes with textured satin icing and shaved chocolate accents, for instance. This type of baked good needs to be displayed in a manner that will show off the detail. A lighted display box would be the better option as the focused light inside the box would display the detail better than just placing them on a tiered display on the counter. Choose a display option that will cast your goods in the best light.

Incorporate Color

Don't be afraid to incorporate color into your display. This can be done with the actual baked goods, a displayette or display pedestal or stand. Take a bakery with a black, gold and pearl color scheme, for instance. In terms of the baked goods, you could incorporate gold powdered sugar on a cookie or pearl accents on a cupcake.

You could keep the same theme in mind by choosing display stands and pedestals in the same color accents as the interior colors. This type of thoughtfulness can elevate the level of professionalism for your business and make customers feel like they are really getting something that is one-of-a-kind.

You undoubtedly put a great deal of time and energy into preparing your baked goods. Make sure you are focusing the same effort towards displaying them appropriately. A display case professional like Northwest Paper Box MFRS INC can assist you with this.
